<p>It happens often that when an element overflows, its parent element ends up getting an undesirable scrollbar. To help debug such scrollbars due to overflow, DevTools already has the [scroll] inspector-badge in the Markup View, which allows a developer to detect which elements are scrollable or have a scrollbar.</p> <p>However, this alone is not sufficient for debugging what causes the scrollbars to appear in the first place.</p> <p>When debugging an unwanted scrollbar, a developer should be able to swiftly get rid of the unwanted scrollbar. One way to achieve this end-goal, is the following:</p> <ol> <li>Show the developer the innermost descendant element(s) which overflow(s) and cause the appearance of the scrollbar.</li> <li>Let the developer use other available tools to fix the unwanted scrollbar, as the information present to the developer when the above step completes should be sufficient to quickly fix the unwanted scrollbar.</li> </ol> <p>This proposal proposes implementing the above feature in the DevTools arsenal.</p>
<p>The primary aim of this project is to improve the cBioPortal’s clinical-timeline. The present implementation (<a href="https://github.com/cbioportal/clinical-timeline" target="_blank">https://github.com/cbioportal/clinical-timeline</a>) is pretty rudimentary and there is a lot that can be improved upon. There are many new features that I plan to implement so that the end users and the researchers have better tools for analyzing and visualising the data.</p> <p>Along with the features, proper unit tests will be written which will help maintain the project better, ensure it doesn’t break anytime and also demonstrate that my code works. Many unattended bugs that the timeline has will also be fixed so that it works smoothly and as expected.</p> <p>This project will provide a better toolset for clinicians to analyse the patient’s data and that in turn would help society at large. I am really passionate about this project and the fact that my work could affect the lives of millions of cancer patients across the world is highly satisfying and motivating.</p>
<p>This project aims at making Sugar run perfectly on the Raspberry Pi like it does on the XO laptops and to create an image of Sugar which is suitable for inclusion on the Raspberry Pi organization's download page.</p> <p>Goals of the project:</p> <ol> <li><p>Make a Raspbian image of the Sugar desktop environment which can be flashed on the SD card of the Raspberry Pi. An “image” in this case is an array of data blocks for a micro SD card which will contain a partition table, a boot and root filesystem specifically designed for the Raspberry Pi.</p> </li> <li><p>Document the whole process and publish a script showing how others can make the image themselves.</p> </li> <li><p>Ensure all the activities work well or are removed from the image.</p> </li> <li><p>List the Raspbian Sugar desktop image on Raspberry Pi Foundation's downloads page.</p> </li> </ol>
The goal of this project is to enhance the usability of Decorator Command Set (DCS) data by developing a utility/method to convert verbose, complex JSON formats into a more human readable YAML representation and back again. Currently, it is highly verbose to read, write, and edit DCS JSON files. The plan is to implement a converter that turns DCS JSON objects into a simple YAML format and back again. The new YAML will be less verbose and more readable, helping people work with DCS better. By the end, a fully integrated converter will be delivered, complete with tests and proper documentation.
<p>The goal of this project is to offer a faithful rewrite of <a href="https://github.com/tabatkins/bikeshed" target="_blank">bikeshed</a>, a tool used for generating many standards, in <a href="https://www.rust-lang.org/" target="_blank">Rust</a>.</p>
Sugar has a lot of activities, with 250+ on GitHub, and more elsewhere. These have scope for improvement; bugs, features, updated human translations, and release. This project will involve working on at least 12 activities to improve them.
<p>Rating facility is a fundamental part of any review system. So, the idea of the project is to add the rating feature to the present review system in CritiqueBrainz. The implementation of the idea is in accordance with discussions on CB-244 (JIRA) and IRC. The project will provide users ability to rate entities on a scale of 10. Furthermore, it will also allow to review just via rating i.e no text needed (CB-247).</p>
<p>The common voice project crowdsources voice clips from volunteers in multiple languages towards the creation of an open source dataset to aid in advancing voice recognition technology. The current Common Voice website is not optimized for tablet view and lacks a demo-friendly workflow. In this proposal, I will highlight concrete steps towards the implementation of a Kiosk mode for the platform to enhance tablet- and demo-friendliness.</p>
MusicBrainz is a community-maintained database of music metadata that includes information about music artists, their releases, and related data such as recording and release dates, labels, and track listings, as well as the locations related to these tracks. The database tracks area types like countries, cities, districts, etc. to indicate the location of recording studios, artist birthplaces, concert halls, and events. But considering the scope of the database, MusicBrainz refers to external databases like Wikidata & GeoNames to keep its area metadata up-to-date. However, adding areas to the database is currently a manual process, which is cumbersome, causes delays, and prevents frequent updates on outdated areas. With this GSoC project, we aim to tackle this issue by building a new Mechanize based “AreaBot” written in Python (similar to the old Perl Bot) to automatically maintain and update areas in MusicBrainz using Wikidata.
<p>Green Navigation is an innovative project with gigantic potential to promote the use of electric vehicles by providing users with a robust tool to compute the most energy-optimal routes. The UI is certainly usable at the moment, but I propose to re-think the current application architecture and redesign the UI to make the web app look so polished and sleek that our users will want to use the service.</p> <p>In addition, I propose to integrate a few new features, including live weather and traffic data, as well as terrain data to take the app experience to the next level.</p>
<p>Over the last ten years, Mozilla has been using Buildbot as its primary continuous integration tool in order to schedule builds and tests for every push that is sent to Treeherder for evaluation. As Mozilla is slowly moving towards using TaskCluster as its primary continuous integration system, an important step would be make Treeherder, the primary UI used for handling builds and tests, compatible with TaskCluster. The current Treeherder interface allows us to schedule buildbot jobs. This proposal aims to integrate Treeherder's job scheduling user interface with TaskCluster jobs. While doing this, it hopes to improve the overall integration of Treeherder with TaskCluster.</p>
<p>The project aims to add more options to fabric maven plugin for building images for OpenShift build mode. Right now fmp supports two kinds of binary builds namely s2i and docker for OpenShift build mode. The project aims at extending the support for other options such as Buildah and GoogleContainerTools/jib. The projects aims at solving certain aspects such as:-</p> <ol> <li>Separation Of Concerns</li> <li>Daemonless/Security</li> <li>Reproducibility</li> <li>Minimal Images</li> <li>Performance</li> <li>Dockerfile-less</li> <li>Simplifying the build flow</li> </ol> <p>Also there will be unit test cases added for each added feature.</p>
<p>The goal of this project is to develop the final version of cross-platform web-based application that enables anyone to perform various statistical computations in an easy-to-use, interactive, and graphical manner</p>
<p>This projects aims at optimizing the storage capabilities on XO, adding improvements to the Sugar UI and adding offline support to InfoSlicer and GetBooks activities.</p>
<p>The project mainly focuses on <strong>improving the User Experience</strong> for people who wish to contribute to Pontoon (the localization tool developed by Mozilla) . While there are lots of good features in the Pontoon but there are few problems with the current flow for tool for the first-time users which creates a confusion for the users who wish to contribute. User Experience (UX) can be improved by making some important changes in the flow majorly making a <strong>new homepage</strong> and by implementation of new functionality in the tool like <strong>implementing a tutorial</strong> and making a more smooth design of the tool to help the first-time users. UX also sometimes involve some changing in the default UI of the tool.</p>
<p>AOM (Accessibility Object Model) is a JavaScript API that allows for modifying an accessibility tree like DOM. In this project, AOM phase 1 & 2 is implemented.</p> <h3>phase 1</h3> <p>The accessibleNode property is added to DOM Element. The properties of AccessibleNode correspond to ARIA attributes one-to-one, and web browsers can modify accessibility tree via this property. Note that if both an AccessibileNode property and its corresponding ARIA attribute are present, the AccessibleNode property overrides the ARIA attribute.</p> <h3>phase 2</h3> <p>AccessibleNode interface is derived from EventTarget so that accessibility input events and assistive actions become able to be processed via AccessibleNode. This enables web developers to check whether users are using an assistive technology or not, and this may leads to discrimination against some users. So, web browsers should ask users for permission of listening for accessiblity events before propagating those events to AccessibleNodes.</p>
I plan to develop 10 Math games for Sugar within the GSoC’25 timeline. The development of these activities will include basic functionalities of the game in addition to other features which are not mentioned particularly like Sound and themes and sugar features like journals (to keep the changes saved for game resume features), user color schemes, toolbar, etc
The project aims to enhance user engagement and system communication in OpenELIS by implementing a robust notification system. The project will focus on creating a service worker for background execution, integrating the Web Push API for subscribing to notifications, and utilizing VAPID keys for secure communication between frontend and backend. The backend will be equipped with REST APIs to handle push notification events efficiently, ensuring seamless data exchange across the system. This project will significantly improve user experience and system-wide notifications within OpenELIS
This project aims at adding an integration layer between OpenELIS Global2 and Odoo (OpenERP) in order to add support for Billing functionalities with the OpenELIS Order workflow. The goal of this project is to integrate OpenELIS Global2 with Odoo (OpenERP) to enable automated billing and financial management for laboratory services. This will ensure that when lab orders are placed in OpenELIS, invoices are automatically generated in Odoo, reducing manual data entry and improving efficiency.
<p>This proposal is focused in network visualization layouts. I intend to implement canonical algorithms for ccNetViz and to develop variations. Most significantly, I think that the Hive layout might be enhanced by enforcing undulations on the lines. I plan to properly document the layouts with examples and well commented code.</p>
<p>Quarkus is a Kubernetes Native Java framework tailored for GraalVM and HotSpot, crafted from best-of-breed Java libraries and standards, which currently is fully supported by Maven build tool which in simple words is used for building and managing any Java-based projects. Gradle is another open source build system which presently isn't supporting all the extensions and core of Quarkus i.e it is in preview mode. To make Gradle support Quarkus completely, we need to have a fairly good understanding of Java and Gradle build tool system. Then studying and comparing the existing Quarkus Maven plugin source code and Quarkus Gradle plugin source code we realize where Quarkus lags behind in the case of Gradle. The points where Quarkus lags can be enhanced by comparing and replicating all the integration tests of Maven plugin for Gradle plugin to increase the overall test coverage for Gradle.</p>
Casbin Core Engine is the first implementation for Casbin DSL. Though stable now, it lacks some important features like the WatcherEx support. Also, Casbin has many users with active feedback, which suggests useful features and explicit bugs. The goal of this project is to add missing features and make Casbin Core Engine more stable.
<p>A major need in cancer research is the development of non-invasive cancer detection and monitoring methods. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is DNA that has escaped from tumor cells and is free-floating in the bloodstream, meaning that genetic information about the developing tumor can be obtained without the need to invasively extract tumor tissue. cBioPortal wants to display the insights obtained from these “liquid biopsies” onto their existing Patient View page. I propose to create a global view of ctDNA information by modifying their existing Genomic Overview to display allele frequencies, allowing users to identify at a glance mutated genes of interest. Mutated genes can be tracked by clicking on the gene, which would display a plot of the gene’s mutation concentration over time. A heatmap of selected genes can also be generated to monitor tumor heterogeneity over time. Another feature could consist of plots to track whether a mutated gene produces a differential time to relapse or survival time compared to the unaltered gene. By visualizing ctDNA results on the cBioPortal interface, I can participate in adding an exciting new clinician tool for personalized cancer genomics.</p>
My proposal is centered around integrating GitHub discussions seamlessly into the leaderboard repository while concurrently enhancing the scraper's type safety. This comprehensive approach will involve a meticulous refactoring of the existing Python-based scraper to TypeScript, ensuring a robust and type-safe codebase. Leveraging the power of Octokit and GraphQL, I intend to optimize the process of scraping GitHub data, enhancing efficiency and reliability. Furthermore, I aim to introduce an innovative reward system for contributors, incentivizing active participation and fostering a collaborative environment. This system will recognize and reward contributors when their discussions are marked as answered, along with receiving an empathy badge as an acknowledgment of their valuable contribution. Overall, this proposal represents a strategic amalgamation of technical refinement and community enrichment, aligning with the overarching objectives of the project while enhancing its functionality and user experience.
