<p>Improve support for NetBSD kernel fuzzing in Syzkaller kernel fuzzer and add support for fuzzing other kernel subsystems.</p>
<p>The aim of the project is to provide an overall Drupal 8 media module which would bundle the components and configurations of the existing independent media modules. The Drupal media team has been working on various independent modules for quite some time now and since most modules are almost functional, it is important to have an overall module. This module would help accelerate Drupal as the preferred media inclusion CMS amongst other alternatives - thus enabling enhanced development and user experience for all interested parties.</p>
<p><a href="https://irde.st" target="_blank">irde.st</a> is a software suite that allows users to create an internet-independent, decentralized & ad-hoc wireless mesh network. It removes all the dependencies of a user from a specific service and enables users to create a local network mesh of their own. It does not expose data or information of the user, even the IPs of the peers present in the mesh are not known, they communicate via routers and the entire communication is end-to-end encrypted between the users, thereby increasing privacy in user data. As of now, Irdest supports various functionalities to users like sharing files over the network created, call between users, and messaging.</p> <p>This summer I plan to package and implement some of these core functionalities in an android application. The project aims at first building the FFI layer for interaction between the rust lib and android, a strong, robust & unbreakable CI with cross-compilation enabled, and then implementing the features required. The final product/deliverable of this project will be an android application that'll support the features which are provided by Irdest in the upstream, and a robust plus <em>modern</em> application codebase.</p>
This project aims to enable testing of Guarded Control Stack (GCS) functionality within CRIU (Checkpoint/Restore In Userspace) on AArch64 by integrating the Armv9.4-A GCS feature into CRIU’s ZDTM test suite through a dedicated test case that confirms whether TPIDR2_EL0 is preserved and still readable in user space after restore. The project leverages recent upstream additions to glibc and Linux kernel that enable GCS support in user space, using Yocto and Arm's Fixed Virtual Platform (FVP) to emulate and test the architecture-specific functionality. This is a first step in exploring how CRIU might need to change to handle GCS systems, starting with test coverage Project Deliverables June 2 (coding begins) - GCS-enabled Environment Verified. Yocto + FVP setup is confirmed working. Compiling and running GCS-marked binaries with glibc tunables active. July 12-16 (Midterm Evaluation) - First GCS ZDTM test added. A basic test that reads verifies TPIDR2_EL0, and explores stack/register consistency across the restore boundary. Integration with --nocr working. Investigation of parasite.c and restorer.c to identify the point at which TLS or control state (e.g., TPIDR2_EL0) could be saved or restored. August 16-August 23 (Final Evaluation) - Full round-trip test of checkpointing and restoring a GCS-using process. All tunables, toolchain flags, and kernel glibc dependencies documented. August 31 (Final Results Announced) - Final cleanup and documentation. Tutorial-style instructions provided on how to replicate setup, test flow, and next steps. Post GSOC - I will remain available to support further maintenance, and help any future contributors pick up.
Wireless communication and in particular WiFi networks are becoming more and more important. Research already focuses on improving reliability, performance of such networks and also efficiency of the underlying hardware. One promising candidate for improvements is TX-Power Control (TPC). Adjusting the transmit power per packet basically promises improvements in overall throughput in wireless networks and/or the efficiency by improved resource allocation in wireless networks. Dated back to 2007, Atheros IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n chipsets driven by ath5k and ath9k Linux drivers did first and Mediatek joined recently with hardware support for tx-power control. Those also allow access to set the tx-power per packet, but yet do not provide a driver interface for this. Unfortunately, also the mac80211 subsystem, which is responsible for WiFi communication in the Linux kernel, does not provide an appropriate API to support TPC and per-packet annotation of tx-power. The goal of this project is to implement the missing three-tier software parts: (1) mac80211 structs to annotate tx-power levels per packet, (2) mac80211 structs to account tx-power status information once transmitted and (3) a transmit power control (TPC) API for TPC algorithms. This is achieved by developing and implementing the required structs in the mac80211 subsystem, modifying Linux WiFi drivers to make use of this API, and testing and validating the implementation in several experiments.
<p>Italian Team Digitale is building the first “operating system” of a country. One of the technologies that it has implemented is the Data & Analytics Framework (DAF) which consists in a huge stack (more than 6000!) of public datasets and tools to work with them. These datasets concern very important matters in organizing and providing good quality services to citizens in diverse fields such as public health, education, transportation, finance etc. Unfortunately the data are not directly informative, they need to be organized, explored and analyzed; they have to be transformed in usable information that the public administration can use to improve its inner working and provide a better operational infrastructure. In this paper I propose to carry on a series of data analysis in the form of “data stories”, a discussion about selected datasets and a description of the results obtained.</p>
<p><em>Interoperability Model</em>Port the gen-api-models tool to OpenAPI v3</p> <p>I spoke with Mentor/managers on Slack (Leonardo Favario and Roberto Polli) Which I thank for giving me all the answers concerning the project. They told me that they must be maintained: I update Kong(Open Source API Gateway) Rate Limiting and edit it to fit the current system, I add a lot of test code(unit test, etc..) and update documentation. API rest maintenance and adapt them to the latest versions of OpenAPI v3. I'm in contact with mentors and managers, I hear them at least 3/4 times a week. Every time they update me on something about the project, I report it</p> <p><a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Navvdxo6QONWg6zz7LaXka4iDZt6ERTIaisFCgiQbQA/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank">https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Navvdxo6QONWg6zz7LaXka4iDZt6ERTIaisFCgiQbQA/edit?usp=sharing</a></p>
<p>Haiku has great support for its own file system, but is completely missing support for some other filesystems. XFS is one of them. Adding it, will improve interoperability with Linux.</p>
<p>Among the projects followed by the <strong>Developers Italia</strong> community, there are few Kits to help web development phase, that are based on a shared design system. Currently, the foundation for many kits has been laid. Some of these are in the early stages while others are stable. The designed Kit needs to cater to a broad spectrum of users: from the expert designers to first-time visitors. The goal of this project will be to complete the UI Kit for React which is based on <strong>Bootstrap Italia</strong> and <strong>React Storybook</strong>.</p>
<p>As the proposal says, “DAF [...] is not the most developer-friendly environment to set-up”. As a young developer, I deem DAF’s complex structure makes hacking with it quite tough, thus I aim to make it easier to understand and use. I want to improve the current situation by proposing a simple yet powerful pipeline, exploiting CI/CD solutions in a sensible way.</p>
<p>This project involves the creation and refinement of a tool to create plots, using the <strong>Data & Analytics Framework APIs</strong> or graphql based on DAF data. This will be accomplished through <strong>python</strong> and its vast set of data science tools and libraries, such as <strong>matplotlib</strong> and <strong>mpld3</strong>, that have become an established standard in the data science field in recent years.</p>
<p>This project aims to improve the Raspberry PI BSP support on RTEMS. Project intends to add the following supports to the Raspberry PI BSP: USB device support, basic HID support (keyboard/mouse), networking (Ethernet driver and lwIP integration). Adding USB and Ethernet support to one of the most widely used development boards, Raspberry PI, makes RTEMS more attractive for the user community.</p>
<p>Go language have some support from KDevelop side. This project aims on improving that support, implementing: building and project management, formatting using “go fmt”, improved autocompletion and linting using “gometalinter”.</p>
<h3>GNOME games</h3> <p>The ultimate goal of my proposal is to add support for gamepad to the GNOME Games project. A video game player without gamepad support does not offer a very good experience to the users</p>
String solving is an important feature of symbolic execution for successful security and correctness analysis. In Java Symbolic Pathfinder (SPF), a widely used Java symbolic executor, existing string solving integration lacks support for many string functions, including some frequently used ones. To improve SPF string solving, I will implement support for unhandled string functions based on functions that are already supported. For some functions looping on the input string, I will construct solver constraints by symbolically executing the implementation of those functions. As stretch goals, I also plan to add support to StringBuilder/StringBuffer and implement regex solver integration. The deliverable of this project is an SPF branch with most string functions supported, together with documentation and unit tests for newly supported functions.
<p>I propose to redesign p5.js’s friendly debugger module to improve user-experience -- in particular, to make it more inviting and helpful for both existing and new users.</p>
<p>Scrapy presently only supports HTTP/1.x to issue network requests. This project aims to implement HTTP/2 support adding an HTTP handler that can gracefully upgrade to HTTP/2 where possible, and take advantage of the compression and efficient gains.</p>
<p>The proposal is towards improving the layer support and adding real time collaboration for Fabrik. I propose to add support for some essential missing layers, creating a Dummy layer which will automatically load any unsupported layers, and adding real time collaboration capabilities to the framework.</p>
The wasm-Signature proposal is specifically about embedded digital signatures in WebAssembly modules, not about package/OCI signatures. When distributing WebAssembly modules, it will be nice if we can have a way to verify. To achieve this target, we choose a Wasm-Signature proposal as our implementation standard. With this proposal, WasmEdge can provide `sign` and `verify` features.
<p>GNOME has had support for ownCloud integration since the release of GNOME 3.8 with more apps supporting it as a source every release. This project intends to integrate ownCloud as a source of music in GNOME Music, which would allow end users to play, browse and search their music collection stored remotely in their ownCloud servers.</p>
<p>Fractal currently supports only one account, if you want to be connected at the same time with different accounts the user has to launch several instances. This feature addition will solve this problem. To add multi account support, first of all work on the backend code is needed to make it more client independent, then work on the interface can be done.</p>
Weaviate is a cloud-native vector search engine and a vector database. Weaviate is completely modularized and the functionalities of the weaviate can be enhanced by using modules. This project will be focusing on creating a custom text2text generator module that could potentially cover a variety of NLP tasks. Tasks range from text summarization, and translation to any other text2text transformations.
OpenSCAD currently supports Windows development/build setup through 2 key ways: MSYS2 and MXE. A MSVC based build has instructions circa 2012, but with significant changes in project structure, and updated/new third party libraries and dependencies, it would be useful to work on adding modern MSVC build support for Windows. Currently, most CI builds use MSYS2 instructions, which has a Unix style build system. The benefits of adding support for MSVC builds include having executable and library outputs (.exe/.dll), vcpkg support for third party libraries OpenSCAD depends on, and support for parallel builds for speed.
<p>Games is a GNOME application that let's you pick games from your library and play them. Basically, the project aims to be like what Music app is for your music library. The project has been in active development for more than 9 months, and it is expected to continue to improve.</p> <p>There are more than 25 game formats that we aim to support, this proposal looks into support as much game formats as possible.</p>
