<p>The Internet Archive is a non-profit library committed to Universal Access to Knowledge. In its 23 years of operation, the Internet Archive and its community have archived millions of web pages, books, texts, audio tracks, videos, images, and software. These items are made freely available to the public to consume and repurpose through the Internet Archive’s flagship website, Archive.org.</p> <p>However, in the midst of the Archive's archiving efforts, it is imperative that users are able to easily navigate through the website's content and find what they are searching for, regardless of the device used or disabilities that they may have to contend with.</p> <p>Thus, the following project aims at improving Archive.org's navigation by researching, prototyping and developing relevant components at IAUX, the Internet Archive’s monorepo for Archive.org UX development and prototyping.</p>
<p>While retrieving articles with simple boolean queries will suffer from a list of problems in general, several machine learning approaches can be applied to allow better performance in terms of accuracy and efficiency. In particular, instead of naively focusing on the existence of the topic in the article, techniques with machine learning can broaden the search range by including more relevant secondary keywords in addition to the various variation of the given topic. Meanwhile, methods (such as SVM, nearest neighbor) can also be employed to prune the fetched articles to filter out those are irrelevant to our topic despite containing the exact words on the topic. Furthermore, due to the fact that articles may use different choices of words over time, time series analysis needs to be applied to keep track of the evolution of one topic during a certain period of time. In this project, I plan to design and implement a proof of concept unsupervised machine learning approach to retrieve articles and prune the results, with the assistance of mathematical models.</p>
The Creative Commons (CC) legal tools are composed of three parts: a legal code, a deed written in simple language, and a machine-readable layer. Unfortunately, the machine-readable layer has not been updated in some time and contains unresolved issues. To address this, the task at hand is to extend the CC Legal Tools App to generate deterministic RDF/XML files for all of the legal tools. This will bring the machine-readable layer up to date with current specifications and ensure that the legal tools are well-organized and consistent, also the end result will be an improved user experience and a more reliable and efficient system for those utilizing the CC legal tools.

Pippy is the Sugar "learn to program in Python" activity. It comes with lots of examples and has sufficient scaffolding such that a learner could modify an existing Sugar activity or write a new one. The goal of this project is to add "co-pilot"-like assistance to Pippy. A learner should be able to ask the AI to provide example Python code to help them navigate the language and explore possibilities in a more open way than the collection of Pippy examples affords. Besides correcting code and providing example to kids the project aims to help developers navigate through Sugar-toolkit and also GTK basics helping them contribute in more effective way. Our AI-assistant model would provide contributors sufficient examples to understand how the sugar codebase works.
<p>Elasticsearch's <a href="https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/client/java-rest/master/java-rest-high.html" target="_blank">Java High Level REST Client</a> is <a href="https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/issues/27205" target="_blank">incomplete</a>. It is missing a few dozen APIs, some of which are fairly common to use. This project aims to add some of the remaining APIs.</p>

It’s Urgent Project is a notification app, with the twist that allows the user trying to reach out decide how urgent it is (i.e. if they want to disrupt or not). It is not a messaging app or a phone app. Intuition behind the project: Have you ever had to get in touch with someone at all costs even if that meant disrupting whatever they were doing? Of course they can make you a priority contact that always rings, but then you would be disrupting every time. So that doesn't work. Deliverables: User Authentication and Management: Account creation, sign-in, and sign-out functionality. Adding other users who are currently on the app. SMS invite functionality for user referrals & Account deletion option. Notification System: Implement the Notification system with Do-Not-Disturb Mode & other checks along with Challenge mechanism. User Interface (UI) Implementation: Intuitive UI design adhering to material design guidelines. Consistent design elements and smooth navigation between app sections. Good Documentation: Technical articles explaining the app's functionality and implementation details. Updated README with project details, setup guide, and contribution guidelines. Testing (Unit, Widget & Integration): Comprehensive testing for different scenarios to ensure app reliability. Unit tests for individual components, widget tests for UI elements, and integration tests for overall functionality. Timeline & Plan of Action: Phase 0 (May 1 - 26): Community Bonding Period, UI Design, Repository Setup. Phase 1 (May 27 - Jun 16): User Authentication Implementation. Phase 2 (Jun 17 - Jul 7): Notification System Development. Midterm Evaluation (Jul 8 - 14): Mid Evaluation. Phase 3 (Jul 15 - Aug 4): UI Enhancement, Testing, and Documentation. Phase 4 (Aug 5 - 25): Refactoring, Final Testing, and Evaluation.
The wrongsecrets project is structured in two modes the standalone app and the CTF mode. Here we will focus on OWASP/wrongsecrets-ctf-party and how to improve it in terms of infrastructure and deployment.
<p>Many open data projects rely on volunteers spending time to gather data, e.g. from remotely placed sensor nodes that capture environmental parameters. Generally, the more data the better conclusions can be drawn. However, many projects suffer from having not enough volunteers and therefore collected data. This projects goal is to dramatically reduce the barrier for non-technical people to become volunteers. To achieve this goal, a serial communication via headphone socket will be established. With WebRTC the signals can be captured in a browser, making installation of addtional software unnecessary.</p>
<p>Kibana Visualize app needs a new calendar visualization similar to <a href="https://www.elastic.co/blog/awesome-new-kibana-visualizations-heatmap-and-point-series" target="_blank">Kibana heatmap</a>, which provides single-day or multi-day events markings in varying colors based on different metrics. It should also play well with the visualization editor, filtering, and Dashboard.</p>
The project's objective is to create adaptable web components utilizing UI frameworks like LitElement. These components will adhere to the Data Repository Service (DRS) API specifications established by the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH), ensuring compatibility and interoperability. The development process involves creating reusable Web Components with customizable designs, possibly leveraging techniques such as Design Tokens. These components will facilitate a user-friendly interface for the GA4GH Data Repository Service (DRS) and will eventually be integrated into the ELIXIR Cloud Component suite. The existing Beacon Project seeks to create a native flutter interface to make group travel (or, say, hiking) easier. By using this, the group leader or leaders would be able to share their location with the entire crew while leading any hike. And in case someone loses contact with the group, one can quickly get on the right path or location by following the location shared by the leader. This proposal aims to enhance the existing project by adding on some new features like the ‘N’ beacon in 1 group, maintaining the state of the app, the option to change the details of the beacon, relaying beacons, and various other features for a user-friendly and seamless app experience. Along with the additional features, optimization of the app for best performance and stability is of utmost importance.

<p>The aim of this project is to design and develop new features to an existing SPDX web application (<a href="https://github.com/spdx/spdx-online-tools" target="_blank">https://github.com/spdx/spdx-online-tools</a>), that will allow software licenses producers to generate new license requests submissions in a more robust and user-friendly way. These new features are going to enhance the process that the SPDX legal team follows to check new license request submissions as well as to generate the new licenses XML files. These improvements will reduce the time the process of enriching the SPDX licenses list takes (<a href="https://github.com/spdx/license-list-XML" target="_blank">https://github.com/spdx/license-list-XML</a>).</p>
<p><em>The primary goal of my idea is to implement a WAF which uses Machine Learning to detect anomalies in web traffic.</em></p> <h7>The proposed idea</h7> <p>Since the Securtea is a software that is used on the server-side of an application. In order to implement a WAF we need to monitor the traffic that is being sent to the Web Server. This could be done by utilizing the Ngnix 's and Apache's reverse Proxy. Where we configure the reverse proxy to proxy pass every request to a listening server that is capable of analyzing the traffic. Once the analysis is done it can be passed back to the required server and the response is sent back to the proxy and the proxy would send it back to the client.</p> <p>The analysis part includes , ML model that has been trained with various simulation of web traffic .The simulation includes both good and bad traffic . The traffic is then feature engineered to get additional features , that help us to identify the nature of a traffic.</p>
