<p>Elasticsearch's <a href="https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/client/java-rest/master/java-rest-high.html" target="_blank">Java High Level REST Client</a> is <a href="https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/issues/27205" target="_blank">incomplete</a>. It is missing a few dozen APIs, some of which are fairly common to use. This project aims to add some of the remaining APIs.</p>
<p>Extensions do most of their work invisibly from users, so extension activity is a complete mystery to most users, even to advanced ones.</p> <p>The "Extension Activity Monitor" project is about developing a privileged extension for Firefox that will monitor the activities of other installed extensions and present those information to the user. It will provide more transparency which could help to increase the reliability of abuse reporting and accountability on developers, as well as providing an additional useful tool to aid investigating bugs in the extensions or in the Firefox WebExtensions internals.</p>
This project aims to enhance the search capabilities within the OpenELIS system, particularly the Search Patient module, providing users with a more efficient way of retrieving patient information. We aim to integrate a Java search engine library Hibernate Search with an Apache Lucene backend, to index key columns such as patient ID, patient name and other relevant data, providing users a faster way to search results. This will also include the integration of fuzzy search capabilities which will allow for approximate matching based on similarity, wildcard search which will allow for specified pattern matching and range search which will allow for searching for values within a specified range.
I plan to develop 10 Math games for Sugar within the GSoC’25 timeline. The development of these activities will include basic functionalities of the game in addition to other features which are not mentioned particularly like Sound and themes and sugar features like journals (to keep the changes saved for game resume features), user color schemes, toolbar, etc
<p>Rating facility is a fundamental part of any review system. So, the idea of the project is to add the rating feature to the present review system in CritiqueBrainz. The implementation of the idea is in accordance with discussions on CB-244 (JIRA) and IRC. The project will provide users ability to rate entities on a scale of 10. Furthermore, it will also allow to review just via rating i.e no text needed (CB-247).</p>
<p>cBioPortal provides clinical data from a number of different cancer studies. The clinical data from the studies is conveniently organized in a tabular format, however the data available varies between different studies. The variation in data makes it difficult to directly compare all of the different studies. The aim of this project is to standardize the data currently available and to propose certain standards for the data added to cBioPortal from future studies. Standardized data will allow for users to more easily work with the data provided by cBioPortal.</p>
<p>The project revolved primarily around the testing and debugging of the various releases of Debian (stable, testing, experimental) with Sugar and its dependencies.</p> <p>Through the project I have tried to fix bugs in Sugar, its activities and dependencies that are reproducible in Debian and Debian issues related to Sugar.</p> <p>The official project idea can be found in <a href="https://github.com/sugarlabs/GSoC/blob/master/Ideas-2020.md#debian-advocacy-for-sugar" target="_blank">sugarlabs/GSoC</a></p>
<p>The project comprises of three major ideas Renewing configuartion, Revamping the design pattern and adding Scheduler and Writing Querier package & API Integration.</p> <ul> <li><strong>Renewing configuartion</strong> BenchRoutes require API configuration from the user for monitoring the endpoints. The configuration is actually parsed from a file config.yml. We are required to make a new config design and a new parser package that will parse the new config design.</li> <li><strong>Revamping the design pattern and adding Scheduler</strong> Bench-route monitor API endpoints by launching go-routines for each-endpoints with different workers concurrently. However, there are multiple problems with this system. We need to redesign the architecture of scraping the metrics with a dedicated scheduler for scheduling the go-routines.</li> <li><strong>Writing Querier package & API Integration</strong> Since the base architecture of BenchRoute will be changed due to the last two ideas, the earlier APIs need to be changed with new APIs according to the client requirements. Also, a new TSDB has been integrated with the new Designs, hence querying data from TSDB requires a new Querier package.</li> </ul>
<p>I will be designing pitch tracker, integrating software keyboard and fixing bugs for music blocks.</p>
This project aims to significantly enhance the JavaScript editor within Sugar Labs' MusicBlocks environment. By implementing translation from JavaScript code to MusicBlocks visual blocks, users will gain a powerful tool for iterative learning and code exploration. Additionally, the project will introduce a JavaScript visualizer for step-by-step debugging and syntax highlighting to improve the editor's usability and appeal to young learners. This upgrade will bridge the gap between visual programming and text-based coding, promoting a deeper understanding of real programming and empowering kids to debug effectively.
OncoKB™ is a crucial resource which provides comprehensive information about genomic alterations in cancer. However, despite the availability of APIs and annotation tools, some users, especially those without computational backgrounds, face challenges in effectively annotating variants and generating reports. To bridge this gap, my project seeks to publish a standalone npm package for visualization of OncoKB annotations and a report generation module to make the annotations downloadable by the users. Seamless integration of these modules with cBioPortal will mark the end of my project.
<p>Matrix is an open decentralized communication network. It actively supports the end to end encryption. This project involves adding features of end to end encryption for nheko reborn client. In specific, the features that will be added are device verification and cross signing features. The device verification feature involves verifying whether the user at the other end of the communication is to be trusted or not. As of now in matrix spec, one of the methods of doing device verification is by doing SAS verification, which will be a major focus area of the project. The next scope that needs to be implemented is the cross signing feature. This feature enables the user to use multiple devices simultaneously to communicate. This involves implementing a series of steps of verification, key backups, and other related work.</p>
ListenBrainz generates music recommendation playlists. These playlists can be listened to on ListenBrainz using BrainzPlayer if the user has connected a music service to LB. Users can also configure such playlists to be automatically exported to the music service of their choice. However, currently, only Spotify playlist export is supported. We can expand this feature, by adding support for exporting playlists to SoundCloud and Apple Music as well. Furthermore, integrating feature of importing playlists from music services such as Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music would significantly enrich the platform's functionality.
<p>Bookbrainz lacks a feature which allows a person to make a collection of entities (edition, edition-group, work, author, publisher) for his/her future reference. This project is about introducing such a feature - User Collections.</p>
<p>TaskCluster workers are hosted on services such as EC2 and currently expose ports to the internet to allow http-clients to call API endpoints. This setup may not be feasible in a data center setup. Livelog proxy aims to mitigate this problem by allowing workers to connect to the proxy over an outgoing websocket connection and exposing API endpoints to the internet. Any incoming requests will be reverse proxied to the worker over its outgoing connection. This is implemented as a distributed system to handle high amounts of traffic.</p>
The 3D volume activity is a Sugarizer activity made to teach its users about different 3D volumes like cubes and octahedrons. It provides an interactive platform where users can visualize, manipulate, and explore various volumes to enhance their understanding of geometric concepts in a playful and engaging manner. Featuring intuitive controls and vibrant visuals, the activity encourages hands-on exploration, enabling users to zoom in for detailed examination and interact with various customization options. Whether adjusting colors, selecting different volume types, or experimenting with different board backgrounds, users have the freedom to tailor their learning experience to suit their preferences and learning styles. The different board backgrounds also have different frictions thus also showing the users how the volumes interact with varying frictions. Furthermore, the activity promotes collaborative learning by facilitating shared experiences among connected users. Students can engage with peers, exchange ideas, and collectively deepen their understanding of 3D volumes.
<p>Design and partially implement a research operating system that uses WebAssembly to implement software-isolated processes (SIPs) that run in ring 0 in order to allow architecture-agnostic compiled binaries and possibly attain higher performance due to not needing page-table switches and interrupt-based system-calls.</p>
<p>The goal of this proposal would be to implement the <a href="http://samtools.github.io/hts-specs/htsget.html" target="_blank">htsget protocol</a> in pure Rust using the <a href="https://github.com/zaeleus/noodles" target="_blank">noodles crate</a>. It also has the objective of making a serverless implementation able to run as a service under the <a href="https://github.com/brainstorm/s3-rust-htslib-bam" target="_blank">AWS Lambda Payload</a></p>
<p>The project aims to create a platform for hosting and sharing Vega and Vega-Lite visualizations as well as integrating the share functionality with the current editor. It will facilitate a user to save, fork and share any visualization on the web. It is designed keeping in mind about user-benefits and covers everything from backend to frontend with few new features. It will be a specialized platform for declarative Vega and Vega-Lite visualizations that lowers the barrier to entry into the ecosystem. Hence improving the ecosystem.</p>
Efficient data annotation is paramount in various fields. However, current annotation tools often lack flexibility in terms of input customization, hindering users from maximizing their productivity. In CVAT, there are shortcuts but these are not customizable. This project aims to address this issue by introducing customizable keymaps, allowing users to change keyboard shortcuts according to their specific annotation workflows.
<p>The tool used in cBioPortal for network visualization is a powerful one with many implemented features. However, researchers and biologists are more comfortable with a simplified network view, which represents diagrams of curated The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) pathways. With the aim to have a more attractive and intuitive tool for the biologists, PathwayMapper project was developed, which provides more intuitive pathway diagrams supported with cBioPortal’s rich data. For this project, I hope to help in implementation of a new version of PathwayMapper, which will include new features as well as making it more user friendly and easier to be used. Furthermore, I'd like to do the necessary integration to the portal pages such that PathwayMapper capabilities are more conveniently reachable to portal users.</p>
<p>The audience of Thimble largely consists of teachers, educators and students. One of the most requested feature in thimble is collaboration. Right now only a single user can work on a project. The aim of the project is to allow multiple users to edit the same code at the same time. The project would also include adding other features like chat, comments etc. that promote Collaboration.</p>
<p>MusicBlocks is going through a complete overhaul to MusicBlocksv4 , allowing us to work on a new, improved version with the latest tech stacks and enhanced performance. The Toolbar in MusicBlocksv3 needed a refactor in terms of both design and internal implementation. Music Blocks also requires a new system design and a better, more suitable architecture to support the working of the platform. The functionalities in the toolbar needed to be better organized in a way that would enhance the User Experience and provide the most suitable accessibility to them. This project aims to build a better, more maintainable Menu Framework along with connections with the Canvas ArtBoard and consisting of numerous features segregated into suitable categories.</p>
