<p>GNU MediaGoblin is a well known free software media publishing platform where people can see and share their media. Even though we can think of it as an alternative to YouTube or SoundCloud, there are some missing features. The primary goal of this project is to improve the existing video player by adding an option for multiple resolutions.</p> <p>During the start of this project, I plan to work on transcoding the uploaded video into possible multiple qualities like 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p and 4K. But there is a glitch here because transcoding the video into so many qualities may take too much time.</p> <p>Hence, I plan to use Celery's prioritized tasking with Rabbitmq to tackle this problem. The video will be rendered to the user just after the video is transcoded to 480p, and then subsequently the option for different qualities is given as and when the video is transcoded to that quality.</p> <p>At the end of the project, I will be handling the front-end part of the project where the option to choose different resolutions will be added to the video player. I also plan to extend on the idea where if the user's internet speed is low at page load, then a lower quality of the video should be rendered.</p>
<p><strong>Barrel</strong> is a distributed database built on top of <strong>Erlang</strong> and <strong>CouchDB</strong>. There are provisions in Barrel to extend the database with user defined modules and hooking them to database events like database creation, deletion, updates etc. Barrel now uses <strong>Hooks</strong> to let modules subscribe to the events and register a callable that can return and modify results.</p> <p>Secondary indexes can also be created using functions that accept a <strong>Doc</strong> and return a <strong>Key/Value tuple</strong>.</p> <p>Right now there is provision only for functions written in <strong>Erlang</strong> or <strong>Javscript</strong>.</p> <p>The aim of the proposal is to add <strong>Elixir</strong> to the list of languages supported by Erlang. This would allow more developers to extend barrel and also brings a whole bunch of libraries and support from the Elixir ecosystem.</p>
<p>Lasp computations are formed using a small subset of a functional language. In functional languages, it is very common to see intermediate lists—and, more generally, intermediate trees—serve as glue between functions. If these intermediate structures, however, are not used by any other part of the program, replicating them in the underlying network that supports the Lasp language exacts a non-negligible cost at run-time.</p> <p>This project aims to enable Lasp to generate efficient reductions of these intermediate trees into a single value that represents the combination of multiple functions.</p>
<p>This project aims in developing an interactive interface where users can test and explore Rocket.Chat’s Rest APIs. It will ensure that, the whole docs is consistent with the RocketChat’s endpoints in the source code. Alongside provide easy to use documentation and the ability for users to connect, alter, and manipulate parameters to fully experiment and understand how Rocket.Chat’s APIs can be fully utilized at various endpoints with speed regardless of the number of articles.</p>
<p>Add tooling to the Guix package manager for configuring and building local "copies" of remote systems and transferring those copies to their respective target machines.</p>
<p>The Rocket.Chat team for iOS has been working on improving the UI, and is planning to come out with a major app re-design for version 2.3.0. One of their goals to support this redesign is to add the ability to theme the application.</p> <p>My project for the summer will focus on theming the application whilst introducing a minimal amount of impact on the rest of the code base.</p>
This project proposes to explore the potential of Tauri as a replacement for Electron in the Rocket.Chat Desktop App. However, Tauri is currently not mature enough to be used as a replacement for Electron. Therefore, this project aims to test the current capabilities of Tauri by comparing it to the existing Electron-based app and analyzing its limitations. The project will involve building a prototype of the [Rocket.Chat](http://Rocket.Chat) Desktop App using Tauri, implementing all the current features that the Rocket.Chat Desktop App currently has such as notifications, download manager, auto updater, settings manager, trayicon etc and comparing its performance to that of the Electron-based app.
<p>GNU social is a communication software used in federated social networks. This project will: • Improvements on the Federated Requests Queue (which will be shared between OStatus and ActivityPub) • Improvements of the OEmbed plugin • Improvements on the Image Systems • Temporary posts • Removing posts with no engagement • Implementation of a circuit breaker</p>
The WebAuthn standard, now widely available on modern Android and iOS devices, enable convenient passwordless authentication satisfying 2FA (biometrics and "have device"). Frequently this involves scanning a QR code followed by unintrusive biometrics such as FaceID on iOS. This project aims to integrate WebAuthn in Rocket.Chat authentication to offer a passwordless, secure login experience. The implementation needs to be aligned with Rocket.Chat’s existing authentication system while ensuring backward compatibility with all existing login methods.
GitHub is the largest centralized repository for hosting open source projects and this app will enable the users to perform many GitHub activities right from Rocket.Chat. In this project, I plan on developing the GitHub app for Rocket.Chat which will improve the overall collaboration between developers. This app will enable users to fetch data from a repository, subscribe to various repository events, perform extensive GitHub search queries, open new issues, assign issues to team members, review pull requests and do much more right from Rocket.Chat.
<p>The v2+ of the android app of Rocket Chat is already under progress and seems to work well so far. For the summer of code'18, I intend to extend Rocket Chat to be used in ubiquitous platforms like android <strong>wear</strong>. I'll be building the wear app from scratch this summer. Apart from this, I also intend to work on more advanced features for the android app like integrating <strong>google smart lock</strong> , adding support for <strong>private chat groups</strong> , and will keep working on issues reported during the GSoC period to improve the user experience for the mobile app.</p>
The power of LLMs has been witnessed to be helpful to generate several short code pieces to fulfil the user’s demand, and be injected into channel chats or GitHub repositories. In this project, we propose to develop a Rocket.Chat app that enables the AI programmer functionalities where users can utilize the tool to create a short piece of code in C/C++, Java, Javascript, Typescript or Python based on specification supplied by the user. This implementation includes modern open source LLMs (Mistral, CodeLlama, WizardCode, Llama2, Phi, and so on) for a simplified configuration. This functionality also allows users to ask for a new variation of the code or augment/fine-tune the system for a more precise code generation. To achieve this, we propose to design a more intuitive and interactive UX to simplify users’ interaction. Finally, we will explore to bridge the generated codes with sharing APIs, allowing them to be shared to external applications and added to GitHub as a pull request. The AI Programmer app will be published on Rocket.Chat Marketplace together with specified documentation.
This project aims to develop an automated system that simplifies the packaging of freeware games for various platforms (like google play, steam, etc.). This system includes predefined platform-specific rules to generate game packages. The resulting distributable is ready for uploading to different platforms, including Linux, Google Play, Apple App Store, Steam, and ForgeTV store. Users can then browse and download these game packages using the proposed ScummVM downloader GUI. Moreover, the system also includes a bundler script that bundles the game with ScummVM to create a standalone application for distribution.
This proposal outlines the development of Quick Replies Functionality for Rocket.Chat. The project aims to introduce a feature that allows users to create, manage, and utilize pre-defined responses, enhancing communication efficiency within the platform. Through seamless integration of AI technology, users will be empowered to generate tailored responses swiftly, streamlining interactions across various contexts. This proposal seeks to revolutionize communication workflows, boost productivity, and elevate the overall user experience within the Rocket.Chat ecosystem.
This project aims to implement a new communicator for GNUnet's Transport Next Generation (TNG) using the HTTP/3 protocol. The communicator will be implemented using the nghttp3, ngtcp2 and TLS libraries. Currently, GNUnet has implemented HTTP/2 plugin using curl and microhttpd under the old TRANSPORT architecture. This project will build on this existing code by introducing nghttp3 and ngtcp2 to implement a faster and better communicator HTTP/3 for the new TNG architecture. I will stay in close contact with my mentors and do my best to complete this project, and I am eager to continue contributing to GNUnet after GSoC 2024.
<p>Our React native implementation is relatively newer than its native counterparts hence lacks many of the important features and is more buggy. The aim here is to implement some of the important features that the application lacks, and also side by side replacing some legacy libraries with a new one to increase performance as well as user experience and last but not least resolving discovered as well as undiscovered bugs. I think the most important feature that app lacks is the ability to fully share files. It can right now download and view already shared files but there no way to upload a new one. Second, an important feature that really makes Rocket Chat standout from others are slash commands, It allows the user to do trivial actions, like invite a user or archive a channel in fewer tabs Third, add in app notification so user can be notified even when he is using app<br> And last but not least I will be redesigning the settings panel of app and adding new options to it like Licence and contact us</p>
<p>The project will focus on getting end-to-end testing for the ReactNative repository fully implemented and running by the end. That encompasses making specific E2E variants for all the different flavours that E2E testing is desirable for, as are defined in the build.gradle file. Further on then, different features will be tested for the different variants too. Finally, the testing will have to be integrated into the Continuous Integration/Continuous Development pipelines, which is the main purpose of this project. This should help speed up code review times, and write tests side-by-side for android and iOS.</p>
<p>GNU poke is an interactive, extensible editor for binary data. Not limited to edit- ing basic entities such as bits and bytes, it provides a full-fledged procedural, inter- active programming language designed to describe data structures and to operate on them. Currently, GNU Poke only accepts commands through command line. It would be better to provide it with a machine interface so it can interact with other programs (GUIs, testers, etc) in an efficient way. The main goal of this project is to provide clients with a more convenient way to use Poke. By achieving this goal, I believe that more and more people will start using Poke either by interaction with other programs or by its own.</p>
This project introduces Rust into GNU libcdio, with the goal of modernizing its codebase along with the benefits of Rust's memory safety. This project targets the SCSI MMC library along with a few of the bundled CLI programs to be implemented in Rust. For a start, the MMC library shall be ported to Rust, while keeping the interfaces and symbols same as C. Dependencies on libcdio shall be served through bindings. The CLI programs shall be moved into a separate repository, and implemented in Rust using the clap crate. FFI shall be used to interface with libcdio. The deliverables include a Rust port of the MMC library, along with the cd-read, iso-read, iso-info, mmc-tool commands.
<p>Recently, metamorphic testing techniques have been applied with success in various fields to find domain-specific bugs, as presented in <a href="http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7422146/" target="_blank">this survey</a>. One field yet to be explored is that of programming libraries, which comes with its own set of challenges. The existance of multiple libraries means we have a rich set of equivalence relations we can employ for metamorphic relations, allowing extensive testing using this approach. This project aims to explore the suitability of applying metamorphic testing to these math libraries and evaluate their reliability and correctness.</p>
Last year, qdEngine was ported to ScummVM. However, not all games are supported yet. Games with advanced minigames are not playable, and some titles need playtesting. This project will address these problems. My first main goal is to implement the advanced minigame interface, which will help advanced minigames be playable. Secondly, I will be going through the rest of the games, identifying issues and fixing bugs along the way.
<p>ElixirBench platform is a proof of concept that already showed its value, the key deliverable is to bring it up and running for nightly performance monitoring for significant Elixir projects. Given a project in the Github, it will be possible to activate the benchmark service and to automatically monitor the performance of the new released versions by setting up a bench/config.yml file and the benchmark scripts to be run for that project.</p>
<p>The idea is to implement cloud support in ScummVM. Users would be able to sync their save files and download game data from different cloud storage services on all their devices.</p> <p>At least these cloud services would be supported:</p> <ul> <li>Dropbox;</li> <li>Box;</li> <li>OneDrive;</li> <li>Google Drive.</li> </ul> <p>All of them use OAuth2 and provide an API to manage user's files.</p> <p>Things to be implemented:</p> <ul> <li>GUI for user to interact with;</li> <li>more or less portable way to open a link in a browser (for OAuth);</li> <li>more or less portable way to run a local webserver (for OAuth);</li> <li>portable (using libcurl) API interaction for all supported cloud services.</li> </ul> <p>Possible mentors: <a href="http://scummvm.org/index.php/User:Sev" target="_blank">Eugene Sandulenko</a>, <a href="http://scummvm.org/index.php/User:Uruk" target="_blank">Peter Bozso</a>.</p>
<p>I will work on the GNU Ring project. This project is, at the moment, unstable due to a lack of automated tests. Only a part of the code is tested.I Need to improve this.</p>
