<p>This project involves the development of an open source database to enable the linked exploration of data in the platform, including energy demand, supply and technology data. Data in the HUES platform is highly diverse and rapidly growing. Currently, this data is stored in separate platform modules using different data structures and file formats, making it difficult to explore holistically. We will migrate this data using a tool Mongify to migrate database from MySQL to MongoDB. The development of server based scripts to automatically extract relevant data from the modules of the HUES platform, and write this data to a common database. In the new database everything can be retrieved in the form of JSON objects. The development of a web-based portal for querying, visualizing and downloading data will be the last part of the project development.</p>
Cytoscape.js is an open-source JavaScript-based graph theory library that can be used for graph analysis and visualisation. It contains many useful functions in graph theory and can be used headlessly on Node.js to do graph analysis in the terminal or on a web server. Cytoscape.js supports several types of graphs, including traditional graphs, directed graphs, undirected graphs, multigraphs and hypergraphs (with compound nodes, but not yet with hyperedges). It was designed to make it as easy as possible for programmers and scientists to use graph theory in their apps. The application receives constant updates from open-source contributors, which are bundled in a patch for release. The current system of this release is primarily manual. This proposal aims toward developing GitHub action that automates the task of release resulting in lower costs of making the release.
<p>Elastic deformation is an essential component of animation pipelines. Volumetric soft body simulation can be used to capture the complex details of muscle and skin, e.g. volume preservation under collision/compression. In visual effects, such methods must also be robust to extreme deformation (no numerical blow-ups) and fast enough for interactive manipulation. Moreover, many of the underlying material models are nonlinear and computationally expensive, such as hyper-elastic models for realistic tissue or artistically-defined deformation. Toward these challenges I propose the implementation of a volumetric soft body solver in Blender, that is not only rapid and robust, but is general to hyper-elastic materials. The solver will also be capable of robustly resolving self-collisions and possibly other constraints. This would greatly improve the use of physics in Blender for animation pipelines.</p>
Kolibri offers a well integrated EPUB renderer for its users with smooth responsiveness, control over the text size, and six color themes to choose from. The existing color themes include variations for both light and dark modes. However, those color themes are fixed to the application and cannot be fine tuned as per individual user needs. Objective of this project is to design and implement a custom color picker component for the Kolibri EPUB renderer so that users can have their own custom color themes in the application. Deliverables of the project: 1. Section in UI to display custom themes 2. Integrated color picker to create and modify custom themes 3. Functionalities of adding, editing, removing custom themes and apply them into EPUB renderer Tools to be used: 1. epub.js library 2. Alwan color picker
<p>The primary aim of this project was to bring professional efficiency by reducing boilerplate code, reducing the number of configuration lines with additions of some important features like multi-language translation support, reusable token validation, server-side logging, and fast response time by reducing build size. Increasing test coverage (>95%) and adding headless browser tests (using selenium) for success and failure responses with interactions between different pages.</p> <p>This will make the code of <a href="https://github.com/openwisp/openwisp-wifi-login-pages/" target="_blank">openwisp-wifi-login-pages</a> more robust to handle any stressful conditions with backend <a href="https://github.com/openwisp/openwisp-radius" target="_blank">openwisp-radius</a>.</p>
<p>ODK-X Suitcase is a cross-platform tool that allows the user to upload, download, and update data on an ODK-X Cloud Endpoint from a personal computer . Users can either use the Graphical user interface or the command line interface to perform operations . Users can upload their data in CSV format and access them later. So , Sync endpoint server has to be configured to use the suitcase application. The ever-growing body of data in Neuroscience, which has been enabled by the advancement of state-of-the-art techniques, calls forth collaborative attempts to make data FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable). Consequentially, Neurodata Without Borders (NWB), an open-source software that defines components of a language for neurophysiology data, was born out of such need. NWB has thus exemplified as a sustainable biological data ecosystem, but there lies the need of converting readily available datasets into NWB format to allow for further sharibility and producibility. With that said, this project aims to (i) convert a publically available dataset into NWB format, (ii) ensure NWB datasets' compatibility with NWB explorer (NWBE), (iii) and facilitate generality of the conversion process by investigating the sources of NWBE-NWB incompatibilities and ensuring essential metadata being added. This is a medium size project (175h).
Jaeger is a widely used distributed tracing platform. This project aims to integrate Small Language Models (SLMs) and Large Language Models (LLMs) into the Jaeger ecosystem to provide intelligent trace analysis. Key features include natural language search mapping (mapping English queries to Jaeger's internal search parameters), contextual analysis, and summarization ("Explain this Span" or "Explain this trace"). The project involves backend integration using Go and LangChainGo, and frontend integration within the Jaeger React UI. Expected Outcome: A working "Natural Language Search" input that populates the Jaeger search form, contextual "Explain" buttons for errors and spans, a robust backend implementation using langchaingo supporting local models (e.g., Ollama) via YAML config, and comprehensive documentation.
<p>The Internet Archive is a non-profit library committed to Universal Access to Knowledge. In its 23 years of operation, the Internet Archive and its community have archived millions of web pages, books, texts, audio tracks, videos, images, and software. These items are made freely available to the public to consume and repurpose through the Internet Archive’s flagship website, Archive.org.</p> <p>However, in the midst of the Archive's archiving efforts, it is imperative that users are able to easily navigate through the website's content and find what they are searching for, regardless of the device used or disabilities that they may have to contend with.</p> <p>Thus, the following project aims at improving Archive.org's navigation by researching, prototyping and developing relevant components at IAUX, the Internet Archive’s monorepo for Archive.org UX development and prototyping.</p>
This project proposes the development of a graphical setup configuration wizard for istSOS4, an open-source Sensor Observation Service. Currently, configuring istSOS4 for Docker deployment requires manual editing of .env files, which can be error-prone and challenging for new users. To solve this, I will build a user-friendly React-based interface with a Node.js backend that guides users through the configuration process step-by-step, validates inputs, and automatically generates a valid .env file. The final deliverables will include: . A multi-step web-based GUI wizard . Real-time validation and feedback . Support for database, API, logging, and advanced settings . Comprehensive documentation and tutorials for deployment This tool will make deploying istSOS4 faster, easier, and more accessible for both technical and non-technical users.
Now VTP as the VNF test platform can support OVP VNF compliance and validation test. It can manage and orchestrate different VNF testing scenario across different SUT environment like ONAP MANO, OpenStack Cloud, Vendor VNFM, SDN Controller, etc under one umbrella across different Test providers and partner labs. As the open source test platform, it should include standard test case from standard organization, so that it can support the testing for standard component which can accelerate OVP test and certification process for commercial products implemented by reference standards. VTP is going to support ETSI NFV APIs conformance test. The mentee will be required to make the technical research and develop related test cases and integrate with VTP under guide of our team.
Managing compliance today means juggling dozens of independent reports - SPDX, CycloneDX, CLIXML, ReadmeOSS - generated separately for each component, with no way to merge, track, or evolve them as a whole. This project introduces a Report Aggregator Tool for FOSSology and SW360 that consolidates multiple compliance reports into a single, authoritative document. Users will be able to select reports across formats, merge them through a transparent aggregation UI, inspect and edit the combined data with full traceability, and propagate changes incrementally when source reports are updated. With seamless integration into FOSSology’s agent framework and SW360’s project hierarchy, this tool will transform fragmented compliance artifacts into unified, audit-ready documentation - making FOSSology an even more complete solution for meeting regulation like the EU Cyber Resilience Act
Jaeger is an open-source, distributed tracing platform designed to monitor and troubleshoot microservices-based systems. A critical component of Jaeger is its storage backends, where traces captured by Jaeger are stored. With the release of Jaeger v2 last year we introduced a new, more efficient Storage API v2. However, the existing backend implementations in Jaeger are still using v1 API that is only wrapped in the v2 adapter, which prevents them from benefiting from the new capabilities such as batch writes and result streaming. The objective of this project is to upgrade some (or all) backend implementations to use the Storage API v2 natively. Please refer to the upstream issue for more details. Expected Outcome: 1) Upgrade memory and Elasticsearch backends to use the Storage API v2 natively. 2) Bonus: upgrade Cassandra and Badger backends to use the Storage API v2 natively.
The idea is to create a Video Editor, a web-based application that takes markdown files, PDFs or any asset file as an input and separates those images and text, and converts them into a video or presentation. In technical terms, we can do this by making a video editor in React or some other framework that will take a file like writeup.pdf or another format. Then on the UI side, you have options to put text in blocks. A block will contain text, a time interval in the video and an image we will show at that time interval. That’s how we can make multiple blocks after submitting the data. We will call the backend REST APIs in Django or flask, which will take those data blocks containing time intervals images and text. And convert that text into speech and ultimately combine all those into an MP3 or any video file, which the user can get after the request is complete.
The qaul RPC user authentication layer project aims to implement a secure and scalable authentication system for the qaul network, enabling multiple users per node and ensuring secure communication between libqaul and the user interface (CLI and future Flutter GUI). The primary objective is to develop an authentication and session management system based on public key cryptography, token-based sessions, and encryption through the Noise protocol. To achieve this, the project will focus on several key components: designing a robust authentication system, implementing token-based session management, integrating encryption for secure communication, and building a command-line interface (qauld-ctl) to manage user identities, sessions, and secure communication. Additionally, the project will establish a protobuf communication structure to facilitate these features between the user interface and libqaul.
The validation of post-software deployment, conducted in two parts: Part 1) Validation of the installation manifests will be performed against the requirements (probably defined in a machine-readable format in PDF 2.0) and the software repositories; Part 2) Validation (comparison) of actual installation vs. the expected installation through log, directory, components, configuration, and software stack. Apart from ensuring that the requirements are met, this validation helps in minimizing/eliminating any deployment errors, drives test-automation, and checks for consistency to achieve efficient automation. Have a comprehensive understanding of the CNTT community, especially Reference Implementation and Reference Compliance Hands-on opportunity for software tool development, testing and verification Have a comprehensive understanding of software deployment tools (e.g. Airship) and related hardware provision interface, e.g. IPMI, Redfish

<p>ChainerX is a versatile <code>ndarray</code> implementation with special support of deep learning-specific operations. Therefore, it is important to support many fundamental operators usually available for <code>ndarray</code> libraries (e.g. those provided by NumPy and SciPy) as well as special operators focusing deep learning applications (e.g. convolution, pooling, activation functions, etc.). While Chainer implements many of these operators, ChainerX still has low coverage. Full coverage of Chainer’s operators (<code>chainer.functions</code>) and more coverage of NumPy APIs is needed. Linear algebra operations form the backbone for most of the computation components for many machine learning methods and simulations of physical systems. This project aims at extending ChainerX capability for common numerical linear algebra routines.</p>
This Google Summer of Code (GSoC) project aims to enhance the Open Food Facts Explorer by implementing new features, ensuring design consistency, improving backend API support, and elevating the overall user experience. Throughout the summer, I will work on bringing feature parity with the main website by adding login flow, advanced search capability, image editing features, and more. Additionally, I will extend functionalities through the Open Prices integration, contribute to reusable web components, and enhance automation using GitHub Actions and Storybook. The project is divided into focused milestones to ensure consistent progress, including buffer periods for testing and documentation.
The goal of my project is to add OGC standard of Sensor Things API(STA) to istSOS project. The OGC SensorThings API provides an open, geospatial-enabled and unified way to interconnect the Internet of Things (IoT) devices, data, and applications over the Web. The project aims to extend interoperability and implement some of the basic APIs from STA that could be adopted in a new revised version of istSOS. FastAPI can be used for the request and response of the istSOS STA services. As PostgreSQL is used as the primary data store or data warehouse in istSOS project, data can be managed using postGIS which is a spatial database extender for PostgreSQL object-relational database. PostgREST is a standalone web server that could be used to turn the PostgreSQL database of STA data directly into a RESTful API. Finally the STA service can be integrated with the istSOS project.

<p>The project goal is to utilise machine learning algorithms to identify changes on government agency websites which are worth reviewing.</p> <p>The ignorant and disparaging stand of the new U.S administration on environmental issues like global warming, air pollution etc. has led to panic as federal agencies gradually make the ocean of scientific data on government servers inaccessible to the public.</p> <p>The project will attempt to tackle the aforementioned issue and fill the following needs:</p> <p>1.Filter out insignificant changes (which may be a major share of all changes) to webpages, and thus, eliminate the need to spend time reviewing useless information.</p> <p>2.Direct analysts to important changes on active websites which will help them to efficiently document and analyze relevant information.</p>
When doing license detection, ScanCode uses the licenses and rules in the ScanCode LicenseDB. The goal of this project is to extend the capabilities of ScanCode license detection to include licenses that are external to LicenseDB, such as proprietary licenses to be kept within an organization. The two main components of my approach are adding a new command line option and creating license index caches for these external licenses. The new command line option will enable the user to specify the directories of the licenses and rules that they’d like to use. The second part of the approach is modifying ScanCode toolkit internals to work with this new command line option, and to handle the creation and maintenance of indexes for any new license sets. Most of these changes involve refactoring existing methods to take in the directories specified in the command line input, which are then used in generating a LicenseScanner object so that these new licenses are cached properly.
