<p>Text in a video often conveys information that is not easily expressed otherwise. This project will implement and compare the various existing state-of-the-art scene-text-transcription models and run inference of the best model on Java using legacy Java bindings of Tensorflow.</p>

<p>The International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) describes a standard to interact with images that are being adopted by an increasing number of museums, archives and other institutions that store large collections of digital images. The aim of this project is to make vitrivr compatible with the APIs specified by IIIF so that it can be used to interact with any IIIF capable data sources easily. The primary goal of this project is to allow Cineast to download files from a IIIF compliant server and extract features through these files using the extraction service.</p>

<p>This project targets at making Android app for vitrivr. Currently vitrivr has a web UI which is vitrivr-ng but it is not optimised for mobile use. vitrivr App will close that gap between vitrivr and mobile devices. Also this project will include adding/improving features of cineast like Spatial Retrieval and Add Media API. Spatial Retrieval will allow users to query on the basis of Location while Add Media API will allow users to add media directly from UI rather than writing commands on cineast server. Integrated with these, it will create a cohesive experience for mobile users which will allow them to query media from a huge server, collaborate with people or query media from own mobile device.</p>

<p>Cthulhu is a simple server-client-based job scheduler developed in Java; named after H.P. Lovecraft's part-octopus god (because it will be able to manage several machines - get it? : D). It's similar to Batch systems, in that it schedules lists of jobs in cluster environments. It consists of a <strong>master</strong> binary and a <strong>worker</strong> binary, which work together to run processing jobs of different kinds (e.g. Feature Extraction (FE), Bash Scripts, FE Result Retrieval, etc.).</p>

<p>Today with the advancement in technology, speech recognition applications are becoming more and more useful. Currently vitrivr supports video retrieval from a large video collections using visual content by querying using an example and sketch. The project here aims build a natural language query interface for vitrivr that gives full control to the user to interact with the user interface by speaking voice commands in a complete natural way.</p>
