<p>Currently, the frontend of PMA is inconsistent and full of small issues. Its high time we switch from custom-written stylesheets to some more dependable and regularly updated framework. So this project aims to refactor the UI using Bootstrap 4.</p>

<p>When the designer section of phpMyAdmin was initially written, there was no jQuery. But now since it exists and due to the advantages of jQuery over JavaScript and it’s a necessity over here, we could make this section better by making use of jQuery and also resolve the existing issues. Also, this project will be beneficial for both the important stakeholders, i.e. developers and user community.</p>

<p>The aim of the project is to implement some of the enhancements suggested in the issue tracker to improve user experience(adding new useful features and making the app easier to use), security and performance.</p>

<p>I'm Leonardo Strozzi, a 19 year old, studying computer science, applying a proposal for the 'Refactoring Twig Templates' phpMyAdmin GSoC idea. The general idea of the project is to improve the in use Twig Templates, and replace some php functions to Twig features. There's also plenty of room for the inheritance and block features, replacing some of the current includes.</p>

<p>Currently there are pre-generated themes that can be manually installed and used. The idea is to create a tool that automates and makes easier the task of creating themes. Themes created from the Theme Generator tool would be less prone to bugs in the long run and could cater to each individuals needs.</p>
